Aftercare
Thank you for your visit to Claw and Talon Tattoo!
We sincerely appreciate your patronage and want to remind you of some aftercare
Do's and Don'ts to ensure the best possible healing and longevity of your tattoo.
THINGS TO DO IMMEDIATELY:
1) Change or wash your bed sheets.
2) Kick all pets out of bed. Pet hair is bad for your tattoo, and a cat licking it is even worse.
3) Get some Curel or Lubriderm. You can purchase some at a pharmacy or grocery store.
3) If you're in a safe/clean place (like your home), take the bandage off after about an hour. Air is the best thing for it. If the
bandage sticks, run a little warm water over the bandage and it should fall right off. Never peel, rip, or scrape the bandage off.
4) Make sure your hands have been washed thoroughly before you remove the bandage.
5) If you're doing other activities after your procedure, keep the bandage on until you're in safe/clean environment. Tattoos will
ooze, which is a normal part of the healing process. The bandage is there to absorb the plasma oozing from your skin, and to
keep your friends from touching the new tattoo.
5) After removing the bandage, cleanse the tattoo area with soap and water. The idea behind the washing is to eliminate the
plasma and dead cells that have been allowed to accumulate on the surface. This will help avoid scabbing.
6) Dry the tattoo area by gently patting the area with a clean towel.
7) Let the tattoo dry completely 5 to 10 minutes.
THINGS TO DO AFTER 24 HOURS:
1) Lightly rub in a small amount of healing ointment, (Curel or Lubriderm). The idea behind waiting is to let the surface dry before you add
ointment, and to NOT lock moisture into the tattoo.
2) Do not re-bandage!
3) After a few days you may notice that your tattoo will begin to itch. Resist the urge to rub, pick, or scratch at the tattoo.
4) Take it easy, keep it clean, and don’t let your friends touch it! It generally takes about two weeks until your done healing.
SOME OTHER DO's and DON'Ts:
1) Stay out of the sun until your tattoo has healed completely.
2) Apply sunblock to tattoo AFTER it has healed whenever it is exposed to the sun to protect it from damaging ultraviolet rays.
Sunlight is the worst thing for your tattoo and will age and fade your tattoo.
3) Don’t go swimming, or soak in a hot tub or bath. Chlorine will feel horrible, and will eat away at your tattoo.
4) Stay out of public showers, saunas, or anywhere you might pick up someone’s bacteria.
5) Don’t scratch, pick, or rub the tattoo.
6) Don’t participate in activities that will make you sweat, and don’t work out the area that you just had tattooed, i.e. if you just
had your chest tattooed, don’t go work out your chest on the bench press. Use common sense.
Infections are rare, but they do happen. They are most commonly the client's fault, from improper aftercare or dirty living
conditions. Please inform your artist of any complications, and if you’re worried about it at all please contact a doctor. Your artist
is not a doctor. We cannot officially inform you when to seek medical help. Err on the side of reason, and if redness persists over
7 days, you probably need medical attention.
*Don’t forget, touch ups are free within 6 months (that’s a touch up, not something else added on, or a re-do from client negligence.)
We hope this is helpful and again, thank you for choosing Claw and Talon Tattoo.
